Kasabian, Scissor Sisters thrill at Radio 1's Big Weekend

Razorlight, Kasabian and Scissor Sisters brought the first day of Radio 1's Big Weekend to a sizzling close tonight (May 19).

Scissor Sisters brought the main stage festivities to a climax with a colourful, theatrical performance. Singer Ana Matronic wore a sparkly silver dress, while co-vocalist Jake Shears sported a gold suit complete with long black glittery gloves and turquoise shirt for the hit-packed headline show, before stripping off to the wait for the finale.

After first album hits including 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Laura', Matronic dedicated 'Filthy Gorgeous' to Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, calling her "an official, honoury Scissor Sisters member", due to her being the "first UK DJ to play their track on the radio."

They then the closed the show with Number One hit 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin'.

Meanwhile, Razorlight powered through a 40-minute set on the festival's Main Stage, playing tracks from both their albums.

Opening with the more recent hit 'In the Morning' the band went on to play 'Somewhere Else', 'Vice', 'Golden Touch', 'America' and 'Before I Fall To Pieces'.

Frontman Johnny Borrell, decked in trademark white trousers and T-shirt, kept auidence banter to a minimum, speaking only to thank the ecstatic crowd for coming.

Kasabian put in a rapturous afternoon slot also on the Main Stage, before dedicating trademark finale 'LSF' to both The Fratellis and The Twang, singer Tom Meighan bid Preston farewell with the words: "Preston, I love you. Let's all of us do this one together!"
